Classic Space Shooter Arcade Game: Gameplay Overview & Features

This game is a classic retro-inspired arcade space shooter heavily inspired by legendary titles like Asteroids. Set against a dark, star-filled cosmic background with a minimalist grid layout, it delivers a nostalgic arcade survival experience right on your browser.

Key Features & Gameplay Mechanics

  • Directional Thrust Control: Players pilot a stylized triangular spaceship. The movement relies on vector thrusting—simply tap or point in the direction you want the ship to accelerate ("Point where you want to thrust").
  • Wave Progression System: The game operates on a wave-based survival format (starting at WAVE 1). As you clear each wave, the frequency and speed of incoming asteroids or enemy obstacles increase, offering a continuous challenge.
  • Lives Indicator: Represented by red triangular icons at the top-right corner, players begin with 3 lives. Colliding with space debris or hazards will deplete your health.
  • Score & High Score Tracker: Located at the top-left, the interface tracks your current score in real time alongside your personal record (BEST score), encouraging players to replay and beat their highest score.

Objective

The core goal is simple yet thrilling: maneuver through dangerous space, dodge or destroy incoming obstacles, clear endless waves, and achieve the highest possible score!
